Heatmap with non equidistant values

Is there a possibility to draw a heatmap where the provided values are not spaced equally but in arbitary distances?

So, is this possible?

I mean, instead of providing data in a completely filled 2D matrix, to provide a list of (X coordinate, Y coordinate, value) items.
